Recognizing the Importance of Family & Neighborhood

Now in its 9th year, White Rose’s highly successful Good Neighbor Program continues to further develop its nationally recognized community partnership program. The program whose motto, “Recognizing the Importance of Family & Neighborhood,” began in 2004 by placing many existing cause-related marketing programs that White Rose and our banner stores Met & Pioneer Supermarkets had supported over many years, under the “Good Neighbor” umbrella. The program became a model for integrating the needs of a community with the resources of many private and public service organizations.

As the program grew, additional community partnerships were developed such as: an educational mentoring program, “Reaching Our Dreams,” that has been introduced to over 12,000 NYC students whose goal is to reduce the dropout rate; a series of Good Neighbor Family Health Festivals located throughout all the boroughs where over 20 free health screenings are given to families; and Youth League Baseball sponsorships to keep our youth active and involved during the summer months.

Festival de la Familia Latina, now in its 10th year, is one of the largest Latino Family Events held not only in New York City but also on the East Coast. With over 450,000 attendees, Festival de la Familia Latina is a FREE family oriented event filled with a full day of entertainment, face painting, contests, giveaways, arts and crafts, rides and health screenings. Proceeds from the Festival de la Familia Latina benefit the community with health & wellness outreach programs for asthma, juvenile diabetes, obesity and much more.
